60 seconds of rapids... See the full video summary below

As much as I talk about sharing that “the National Park System is not just the Grand Canyon,” I sort of have to eat my words. Not that I don’t still wholeheartedly believe in that statement, but because, once again, the Grand Canyon has provided one of my most special national park experience.

Unit #45 / 413 - Appalachian National Scenic Trail

It's almost by quirk of fortune that while driving through Maine this became my 45th National Park Service site.

- It isn't listed as one of Maine's park sites.

The trail is one of the most popular attractions of Great Falls National Park, part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, and includes no...

Unit #7  / 412 - Greenbelt Park

It rained for a record 15 consecutive days in Washington D.C. from April 27 - May 11. It rained so much that I would wake up and just assume the day would be gray and dreary. It rained so much that I wondered why my trip's launch had to start on April 29.

Which is why my sunny day spent at Greenbelt Park in suburban Washington D.C. was extra resplendent. When you've b...
